Vernissage for the autumn exhibition of Otobong Nkanga on Friday, 9 October at 19:00. Free admission, no registration required.

Otobong Nkanga was born in 1974 in Kano, Nigeria, and lives in Antwerp, Belgium. Her artistic practice engages with questions of ecology and the exploitation of Earth's resources, as well as the body's relationship to space and land.

"I dreamt of you in colours" is Nkanga's first retrospective exhibition in Scandinavia, featuring works from the 1990s to the present across diverse media. During the opening evening, the artist activates the work "Solid Maneuvers" (2015) through a performance of the same title - a work using salt, makeup, and minerals that embodies the impact of mining on landscape and environment. At the intersection of choreography and ritual, Nkanga explores the connection between physical exertion, collective memory, and the violence inherent in the extraction of natural resources.
