Freedom of Speech in Sweden: The Situation, Threats and Consequences — malmö konsthall, Malmö
Free entry

A lecture by Hanna Nordell, executive director of Svenska PEN, on freedom of speech in Sweden - based on Svenska PEN's latest reports.

Freedom of speech is formally strong in Sweden, but the practical space for free expression faces challenges here too. Swedish authors, journalists, researchers and other publishing professionals encounter hate, threats, discreditation and pressure - which risks leading to fear, self-censorship and silence. The lecture examines who is affected, what the consequences are and how Sweden's development can be understood in an international context.

The event is part of "Förbjuden kulturvecka" - read more about the week on Malmö city's website.
