Elliott Sharp Concert — hallands konstmuseum, Halmstad
Description was written before the event

Since the 1970s, Elliott Sharp has shaped New York's avant-garde scene as a guitarist, composer, and improviser - JazzTimes called him "one of the godfathers of the Downtown music scene". This is a rare opportunity to see him perform live in Sweden, and Halmstad is the only venue.

Sharp works primarily with electric guitar combined with electronics. His career encompasses collaborations with John Zorn, Nels Cline, and Merzbow, and he moves equally freely between free improvisation and notated composition. Among his major works are the opera Die Grösste Fuge (2021), recorded with Nicholas Isherwood, and Port Bou (2014) - a piece centered on the philosopher Walter Benjamin's final hours. Sharp has also published books on music and improvisation, and graphic notation is a recurring tool in his work.

Seating is limited - book in advance via bokning@hallandskonstmuseum.se or phone 035-16 23 00. The concert is organized by Studiefrämjandet in collaboration with Hallands Konstmuseum and with support from Musik Hallandia.
