About

A Split-Second is a Belgian EBM and new beat band founded in Ghent in 1985 by Marc Heyndrickx (aka Marc Ickx), with producer Peter Bonne (Chrismar Chayell) soon joining as a core collaborator. Their 1986 single 'Flesh' inadvertently sparked the new beat movement when DJs began playing the 12" at a slowed tempo, and the band went on to sign with Chicago's Wax Trax! Records in 1988, charting on the US Billboard Dance Club charts. Widely regarded as one of the founding acts of European EBM, A Split-Second has remained active into the 2020s, continuing to perform on the underground electronic circuit.
