About

Cochemea Gastelum is a saxophonist, flutist and composer from San Diego, California, of Yaqui and Mescalero Apache descent. He spent years as a touring member of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and has recorded alongside artists ranging from Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson to Archie Shepp and Quincy Jones. His solo work on Daptone Records weaves jazz, funk and indigenous ceremonial traditions into a trilogy rooted in ancestral memory - All My Relations (2019), Vol. 2: Baca Sewa (2021) and Vol. 3: Ancestros Futuros (2025).
