Cochemea Gastelum is a saxophonist, flutist and composer from San Diego, California, of Yaqui and Mescalero Apache descent. He spent years as a touring member of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and has recorded alongside artists ranging from Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson to Archie Shepp and Quincy Jones. His solo work on Daptone Records weaves jazz, funk and indigenous ceremonial traditions into a trilogy rooted in ancestral memory - All My Relations (2019), Vol. 2: Baca Sewa (2021) and Vol. 3: Ancestros Futuros (2025).
Cochemea released Vol. 3: Ancestros Futuros on Daptone Records, completing his trilogy of albums rooted in Yaqui ancestral memory.

Vol. 3: Ancestros Futuros was recorded live to 8-track analog tape by producer Gabriel Roth (Bosco Mann), with a core octet of NYC percussionists and Daptone rhythm section members.
