D-A-D is a Danish hard rock band from Copenhagen, originally formed in 1982 under the name Disneyland After Dark - a name they later abbreviated to sidestep a lawsuit from The Walt Disney Company. Their 1989 album No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims, driven by the MTV hit 'Sleeping My Day Away', broke them internationally, and the current lineup of brothers Jesper and Jacob Binzer, bassist Stig Pedersen and drummer Laust Sonne has held together without interruption for over two decades. In 2024 the band marked 40 years on stage with a dedicated exhibition at the National Museum of Denmark and released their 13th studio album, Speed of Darkness.
D-A-D released their 13th studio album Speed of Darkness on October 4, 2024 via AFM Records, a 14-track double album produced by Nick Foss and mastered by Jacob Hansen.
The band announced Speed of Darkness and launched a summer festival run of 24 concerts across Europe ahead of the album release.
D-A-D received their own exhibition at the National Museum of Denmark as part of their 40th anniversary celebrations.
D-A-D announced a Greatest Hits Australian tour for May 2025, returning to the country by popular demand.
Speed of Darkness was written from a pool of 40 songs the band had accumulated since their previous album A Prayer for the Loud (2019), with 14 selected for the final release.
