Mr Bo & the Voodooers celebrate 30 years with a full evening in Göteborg, featuring the original line-up enhanced by additional horn players. Guest vocalist Lollo Gardtman performs.
Mr Bo & the Voodooers is a Gothenburg blues band founded in 1996 by singer-guitarist Bo Carlsson, known as Mr Bo. The quartet - Carlsson on vocals and guitar, Bo Hansson on Hammond organ, Lars Mellqvist on bass and Roger Mörck on drums - blends blues, R&B, soul and gospel into a sound rooted in the 1960s and 70s. Carlsson has toured Scandinavia with American blues artists since the early 1980s and received the Åmål Blues Fest Award in 1998, the Mönsterås blues festival prize and the Jan Rosenqvist memorial grant awarded by the Swedish Blues Association. The band has released three albums and remains one of Sweden's most respected live blues acts.
The band released the single 'I'm Rich' in 2024, with lyrics by Sven Zetterberg and production by Katri Oksanen.
Mr Bo & the Voodooers performed at a Monday Jazz Happening event in Finland in April 2024.
The band toured extensively across the Nordic countries throughout 2023.
Mr Bo was voted Guitarist of the Year 2020 by listeners of the popular Swedish podcast Bluespodden.
The band released their third album 'Going Up North', which received wide attention and positive reviews.
