Rosanne Cash (born May 24, 1955, Memphis, Tennessee) is an American singer-songwriter and author whose work spans country, Americana, folk and rock. The eldest daughter of Johnny Cash, she built a career entirely on her own terms: eleven number-one country singles in the 1980s, followed by a deliberate artistic pivot toward more literary, introspective songwriting after she left Nashville for New York. Her 2014 album The River & the Thread won four Grammy Awards, and she has received 12 additional Grammy nominations across a catalogue of 15 albums.
