Lucinda Williams (born 1953, Lake Charles, Louisiana) is an American singer-songwriter whose music sits at the crossroads of country, blues, rock and folk - a sound that resists easy labeling. Her 1998 album Car Wheels on a Gravel Road brought her wide recognition and a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album; she has won three Grammys in total and received 17 nominations. Rolling Stone named her one of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time, and Time called her America's best songwriter.
