System Of A Down is an Armenian-American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, formed in 1994 by vocalist Serj Tankian, guitarist Daron Malakian, bassist Shavo Odadjian and drummer John Dolmayan - all four of Armenian descent. Their 2001 album Toxicity debuted at number one in the US and Canada, and the band went on to become one of the defining acts of 2000s heavy music, known for sharp political lyrics and a sound that blends metal, punk and Middle Eastern influences. With Mezmerize and Hypnotize (both 2005) they became the first band since The Beatles to top the US Billboard 200 twice in the same year.
System Of A Down played the first night of their 2026 European stadium tour in Stockholm on June 29, kicking off their first European run since 2017.
The band announced an 8-date UK and European stadium tour for summer 2026, with Queens of the Stone Age and Acid Bath as support acts on all dates.
System Of A Down completed a limited 6-date North American stadium run in August-September 2025, co-headlining with Korn, Avenged Sevenfold and Deftones in different cities.
The title track 'Toxicity' crossed 1 billion views on YouTube, following 'Chop Suey!' which had passed the same milestone in 2020.
System Of A Down's Latin American stadium tour in early 2025 sold 500,000 tickets across multiple countries.
