About

Soulfly is a Brazilian-American heavy metal band founded in Phoenix, Arizona in 1997 by Max Cavalera after his departure from Sepultura. The band weaves thrash and groove metal together with Brazilian tribal rhythms and world music influences, a formula that earned their gold-certified debut album a place in metal history. Now a family affair - with Max's sons Zyon on drums and Igor Amadeus on bass - the band has released thirteen studio albums, most recently Chama (2025) via Nuclear Blast Records.
