Gotland Chamber Music Festival takes place traditionally in week 30. The festival opens with a piano evening featuring Staffan Scheja and cellist Antonio Roland at Almedals Library.

Throughout the week, performers include soprano Clarice Granado, violinists Sueye Park (winner of this year's Sibelius Competition) and Darius Preuss, guitarist Jacob Kellermann, baritone Marcus Jupither, and pianist Itamar Carmeli. The three latter artists are visiting the festival for the first time. Staffan Scheja directs the festival.

About: Staffan Scheja

One of Sweden's most distinguished pianists, Scheja took first prize at the Busoni Competition in 1975 and has since performed with conductors such as Simon Rattle, Esa-Pekka Salonen and David Zinman. He is also the driving force behind the Gotland Chamber Music Festival, which he has led since its founding in 1986.

About: Clarice Granado

Stockholm-born soprano Clarice Granado graduated from the University College of Opera in 2024 and has quickly built a presence on Sweden's leading stages - from Folkoperan's Die Zauberflöte to Carmina Burana with the Gothenburg Symphony. In May 2026 she received the Hjördis Schymberg scholarship, awarded by the soloists of the Royal Opera.

Granado sang the role of Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at Folkoperan in Stockholm and at Uppsala Stadsteater, and was awarded Folkoperan's Friends soloist scholarship for the performance.

At 25, Sueye Park took the top prize at the 2025 Sibelius Competition in Helsinki - the same stage where Mullova and Kavakos once made their names - and makes her BBC Proms debut in London in July 2026. Her five BIS Records albums span Paganini, Szymanowski and contemporary works, reflecting a range that goes well beyond competition repertoire.
