Guitarist John Williams described them in the 1990s as "one of the greatest groups, regardless of genre", and The Washington Post has praised their music as "a journey into a magical musical world - a kind of folk music in search of a land".
The group is led by Horacio Salinas, musical director since 1968 and creator of many of their most celebrated works. Together with José Seves and Horacio Durán, he forms the core of an ensemble whose repertoire spans several decades.
