In Schönberg's Footsteps

Barbara Hannigan conducts a program exploring Arnold Schönberg and his contemporaries at Göteborgs Konserthus on Sunday, 8 November 2026. The concert hall sits on Götaplatsen and serves as home to the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra - one of Northern Europe's most respected ensembles. The program features works by Schönberg, Hindemith, Schreker, and the Khayam siblings, examining their significance for twentieth-century music. Schönberg's Lieder, composed during the transition from late Romanticism to early modernism, are presented here in an orchestral arrangement by Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen. Hannigan visits Gothenburg as part of two Swedish concert dates on her tour.
