Chamber Concert #2

Almakvartetten, the most renowned string quartet of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, performs Ravel's String Quartet in F major - a work dedicated to composer Gabriel Fauré. Fauré was less enthusiastic than Claude Debussy, who loved the piece. Today it is one of the most performed and recorded chamber music works in existence.

In Mozart's Clarinet Quintet in A major, known as the Stadler Quintet, Malmö Symphony Orchestra clarinetist Gustav Wetterbrandt joins the quartet. The piece was originally written for Mozart's friend and Masonic brother Anton Stadler. The work is now often played on standard clarinet, but Gustav uses a basset clarinet - the instrument the composer originally wrote the quintet for.
