Summer Festival: San Giovanni Battista - Baroque's Great Musical Drama of Power, Passion and Betrayal

Alessandro Stradella's (1643-1682) oratorio San Giovanni Battista takes centre stage as Drottningholm Palace Theatre marks two royal jubilees on the same evening: H.M. Queen Silvia's 50 years on the throne and the 400th anniversary of Queen Christina.

The connection is no coincidence - Stradella was one of Queen Christina's favourite composers, making this work a natural bridge between the two queens.
