concertBlack Sea Dahu
Swiss indie folk and chamber pop band Black Sea Dahu, fronted by singer-songwriter Janine Cathrein, performs at Debaser Nova.
Black Sea Dahu is a Swiss indie-folk band from Zurich, built around singer-songwriter Janine Cathrein and a tight circle of friends and siblings. Formed in 2012 under the name Josh, they rebranded in 2018 and broke through with the debut album White Creatures - drawing comparisons to Ben Howard, Bon Iver and Big Thief. Their third album Everything (February 2026) grew from personal grief after the death of Janine and Vera Cathrein's father, and has been received as one of the band's most powerful works to date.
Swiss Music Export praised Everything as a major step forward, noting the album's string, brass and woodwind arrangements developed with collaborators Janos Mijnssen and Gina Ete.
Black Sea Dahu released their third album Everything on 20 February 2026 via Mouthwatering Records, recorded in a house in the mountains of Flims, Switzerland.
German music site Plattentests.de called Everything a deeply moving album that works best as a complete whole, and predicted the new material would lift the band's already remarkable live presence to a new level.
In 2025 the band released three singles - Ruth, Superpower and One Day Will Be All I Have - plus the EP Ants on the Wall, all previewing the forthcoming album Everything.
Black Sea Dahu are currently on a major European tour spanning 15 countries with 49 upcoming concerts, including dates in Stockholm, Oslo, Hamburg, London, Madrid and Barcelona.
