Glenn Hughes (born 21 August 1951 in Cannock, Staffordshire) is an English bassist, vocalist and songwriter who rose to fame as a member of Deep Purple's Mk III and Mk IV lineups from 1973 to 1976, appearing on the albums Burn, Stormbringer and Come Taste the Band. Renowned for his funk-rooted bass playing and a wide-ranging soulful voice - Stevie Wonder once called him his favourite white singer - he has maintained a prolific solo career alongside stints with Black Country Communion, The Dead Daisies and brief spells fronting Black Sabbath. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Deep Purple in 2016.
Hughes cancelled all his planned 2026 touring dates, citing a minor health issue requiring medical attention over the coming months.
Hughes released his 15th solo album, Chosen, on 5 September 2025 via Frontiers Music Srl, his first solo record in nine years.
Hughes contributed vocals to 'Rocket', a single by Robbie Williams also featuring Tony Iommi, released on 22 May 2025.
Hughes toured Europe and South America on 'The Chosen Years' tour, which ran from September through November 2025, including dates in Finland.
Hughes contributed vocals to 'I Wanna Play My Guitar', the debut single from the SatchVai Band, a collaborative project by Joe Satriani and Steve Vai.
