Jim Lauderdale (born April 11, 1957, in Troutman, North Carolina) is an American country, bluegrass, and Americana singer-songwriter based in Nashville. He has released 39 studio albums and written hits for George Strait, Patty Loveless, the Chicks, and many others - earning him a reputation as one of Music Row's most respected craftsmen. Lauderdale has won two Grammy Awards in the Best Bluegrass Album category and received the Americana Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. In 2025 he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
