About

Manfred Mann's Earth Band is a British rock group founded in London in 1971 by South African keyboardist Manfred Mann, who had already made his name in the 1960s with hits like "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" and "The Mighty Quinn". The band blends progressive rock, hard rock and jazz-rock, and broke through internationally with their 1976 album The Roaring Silence - particularly the US and Canadian number-one cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light". After a brief pause in the late 1980s, they have toured and recorded continuously ever since, with founding guitarist Mick Rogers still in the lineup.
