About

Nordiska Kammarorkestern (NKO) is a Swedish chamber orchestra of 35 musicians, founded in 1990 and based in Sundsvall, Västernorrland. It performs a wide repertoire spanning classical and contemporary music, regularly premiering works by Swedish composers, and has toured across Sweden, Europe and Asia. The orchestra is part of Musik Västernorrland and also operates two smaller ensembles - Nordiska Kammarensemblen and Nordiska Blåsarkvintetten.

    Violinist Malin Broman officially took up her three-year role as NKO's musical director at the start of the 2025/2026 season.

    NKO announced the appointment of Malin Broman as its new musical director, filling the artistic leadership vacancy that had existed since Eva Ollikainen's tenure ended in 2021.

    NKO's 2026/2027 subscription season at Tonhallen in Sundsvall opened on 3 September 2026, running through to May 2027.

    NKO performed a guest concert at Kulturens hus in Luleå as part of the venue's classical music series, led by Malin Broman.

    NKO collaborated with Swedish hip-hop artist Petter at Naturscen Skuleberget, blending classical orchestral sound with modern hip-hop under conductor Hans Ek.
