Rainer Honeck guides listeners on a journey through Mozart's life - from child prodigy to mature master.
The programme opens with Symphony No. 1, composed when Mozart was eight years old and performed for an enthusiastic English audience. At 19, he displayed playful virtuosity and sensually beautiful melodies in Violin Concerto No. 3, where Rainer Honeck also performs as soloist.
The evening concludes with Symphony No. 40, one of Mozart's final works. Here, intense emotional outbursts reveal a shift away from the polished elegance of classicism toward the emotional depth that characterizes the musical era known as Sturm und Drang.
