About

Suicidal Tendencies is an American crossover thrash band formed in 1981 in Venice, California by vocalist Mike Muir, the only constant member across the band's entire history. Their 1983 self-titled debut - and its landmark single "Institutionalized", one of the first hardcore punk videos to get serious MTV airplay - put them on the map, and they went on to become one of the acknowledged founding acts of the crossover thrash genre alongside D.R.I. and Corrosion of Conformity. The band's alumni roster reads like a who's who of heavy music: Robert Trujillo (later of Metallica) and Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner both passed through the ranks.
