Rymden

Rymden brings together Nordic jazz musicians rooted in Esbjörn Svensson's Trio - Bugge Wesseltoft, Dan Berglund and Magnus Öström. The trio moves beyond pure jazz, drawing from progressive rock, minimalism and contemporary art music.

If "the Scandinavian sound" is typically described as meditation over snow-covered mountains and tranquil fjords, then Rymden is its antithesis - an unpolished prism casting a dark light over 21st-century Scandinavia. Wesseltoft alternates between piano and Rhodes, while Berglund and Öström challenge conventions on their respective instruments.
