Dan Berglund (born 1963, Pilgrimstad, Sweden) is a Swedish double bassist who came to international attention as a founding member of the Esbjörn Svensson Trio (e.s.t.), widely regarded as the most influential European jazz band of the 2000s. After Esbjörn Svensson's death in 2008, Berglund founded the crossover quartet Tonbruket - whose debut album won a Swedish Grammy - and later joined forces with drummer Magnus Öström and Norwegian pianist Bugge Wesseltoft in the trio Rymden, blending jazz, progressive rock and art music.
Berglund and Magnus Öström released e.s.t. 30 on ACT Music (May 31, 2024), a live album recorded at the Kölner Philharmonie marking the 30th anniversary of e.s.t., featuring guest musicians Joel Lyssarides, Magnus Lindgren, Verneri Pohjola and Ulf Wakenius.
Tonbruket released Light Wood, Dark Strings (October 2023), their most acoustic album to date, recorded at The Village in Copenhagen and Studio Bruket Sickla.
Rymden released two albums in 2023: Valleys and Mountains and a collaboration with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra titled Rymden + KORK.
Rymden is currently touring across the Netherlands, Germany and the UK, with upcoming dates including Rotterdam, Kassel, Utrecht, London and Manchester.
