Drink The Sea is a five-member project whose backgrounds span a broad range of international music.
Peter Buck is the founder, guitarist and songwriter of R.E.M., with collaborations on dozens of albums over 40 years. His work with bandmate Barrett Martin encompasses over 40 albums. Duke Garwood is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist with several solo albums and collaborations with Screaming Trees vocalist Mark Lanegan. Alain Johannes is a Chilean-American producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter who founded the band Eleven - he has worked with Chris Cornell, PJ Harvey, Queens Of The Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures, among others. Barrett Martin is a Grammy-winning producer, drummer and songwriter known from Screaming Trees and the supergroup Mad Season; he has contributed to over 200 albums, including records with R.E.M., Queens Of The Stone Age and Brazilian artist Nando Reis. Lisette Garcia is a Mexican-American percussionist with albums from around the world on her resume, and has also worked as a songwriter for South American productions.
The songs are built around guitar, bass and drums, but enriched by Arabic oud, Indian sitar, Indonesian gamelan and percussion such as Brazilian surdo, frame drum, vibraphone, marimba and kalimba.
