Drink The Sea is an international supergroup featuring members from R.E.M., Screaming Trees and Queens Of The Stone Age. The music blends rock with world instruments including oud, sitar and gamelan.
Drink The Sea is an alternative rock supergroup formed at the end of 2024, built around Peter Buck (R.E.M.), drummer and producer Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Mad Season), multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes (Eleven, Queens of the Stone Age), British singer-songwriter Duke Garwood, and percussionist Lisette Garcia. The band recorded their first two albums simultaneously in studios across the US, Chile and Brazil, releasing both in autumn 2025 on Martin's Sunyata Records. Their music weaves rock, jazz and world music together - traditional guitar and drums alongside Arabic oud, Indian sitar and Indonesian gamelan.
Drink The Sea began releasing singles from 'Drink The Sea III' every two weeks ahead of the album's October 2, 2026 release.
The band announced their third studio album 'Drink The Sea III', due October 2, 2026 via Sunyata Records and Sony Orchard Digital Music, alongside a second world tour.
'Drink The Sea III' was recorded on the road between October 2025 and April 2026, with sessions in Olympia WA, Pichilemu Chile, and São Paulo Brazil.
Drink The Sea completed a month-long US tour in early 2026, playing sets of around two and a half hours drawing on both albums.
The band released their debut double album 'Drink The Sea I' and 'Drink The Sea II' in September and October 2025 on Sunyata Records, distributed by Sony/Orchard.
