Jazz i Kuben: Bria Skonberg

Bria Skonberg is an award-winning trumpeter, singer and songwriter based in New York, celebrated for her ability to blend traditional and contemporary music. She was a professional bandleader as a teenager in British Columbia, studied trumpet at Capilano University in Vancouver, and since arriving in New York in 2010 has worked actively as a performing musician, educator and organizer of concerts and workshops at several established music institutions.

Her music has been streamed over 30 million times. The New York Times has described her as "a shining hope of hot jazz" and The Wall Street Journal has called her one of the most versatile musicians of her generation. She has performed at hundreds of festivals and venues worldwide, including Monterey, Montreal Jazz Festival and Carnegie Hall.

Her debut album reached number 5 on Billboard's jazz chart and her seventh studio album What it means received a five-star review in Downbeat. Her awards include a Juno Prize, ten Downbeat Rising Star nominations, the Legend Award from the Society for the Preservation of the Great American Songbook and a nomination for the European Académie du Jazz Prize in 2025.

Opening the show is Malmö-based pianist and composer Eskil Roos, who is releasing her debut album in conjunction with the concert. The event is organized in collaboration with Jazz i Malmö.
