The Shining

The Shining arrives at Malmö Opera on Wednesday, 2 September 2026 at 19:00. Peter Kajlinger brings Stephen King's classic horror novel to the opera stage when two Pulitzer Prize winners - composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell - create a psychological drama filled with unease and nightmarish visions. Malmö Opera is one of Sweden's largest opera houses, with a hall seating over 1,400 spectators, located on the Juutinrauma waterfront and one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. The building, opened in 1944, presents classical opera, musicals and ballet. Admission costs 640 kronor; bus transport is included for members, 100 kronor for others. Registration and payment by 1 August. Peter Kajlinger's Swedish tour encompasses three performances in total.
