Driv Hunger - Hagar Malin Hellkvist Sellén
Physical, intuitive and concentrated
Driv Hunger is a new work by choreographer Hagar Malin Hellkvist Sellén and a standalone continuation of Tiden det tar, which premiered in 2023. Like that work, Driv Hunger begins with movement and lets it guide the direction - without a preconceived idea, Hellkvist Sellén and the dancers enter the creative process with an open and exploratory spirit. The floor becomes a place for physical and philosophical inquiry, and the choreographic landscape emerges from trust in craft. The work is described as a movement-based act of resistance against a time in which everything is measured, optimized and distanced.
The performance features Norwegian dancer Pernille Holden, who has previously worked with Hellkvist Sellén, alongside dancer Elin Hallqvist. The title is drawn from Lina Nordström's text Få ord.
Hellkvist Sellén studied at the Choreography Programme at Danshögskolan (now Stockholm University of the Arts) and has worked with contemporary choreography for two decades. Her most acclaimed works include Bättre folk, Rosa löften, Missionären and Flottarkärlek. She has received the Svenska Teaterkritikers Danspris and the IRIS prize from Svenska Regissörsföreningen, and her works have been shown at venues including Dansens Hus, MDT, Dansstationen and Norrlandsoperan.
