Förklädd Gud

The evening features two works: Valborg Aulin's Tableaux Parisiens and Lars-Erik Larsson's Förklädd Gud.

Tableaux Parisiens was written after Aulin received the prestigious Jenny Lind scholarship from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 1885, which gave her the opportunity to study in Paris and deepen her knowledge of orchestration. There she immersed herself in the city's musical life - notably, Hector Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique made a strong impression - and a suite by Jules Massenet inspired her to compose Tableaux Parisiens. The suite's four movements move between the bustling life of carnival, the stillness of night, an elegant ballet scene with waltz rhythms, and finally Paris in festive dress at the Trocadéro.

Förklädd Gud, with text by Hjalmar Gullberg and music by Lars-Erik Larsson, premiered in 1940 and is considered one of Sweden's most beloved choral works. The soloists are baritone Mikael Horned and court singer Elin Rombo. The symphonic choir consists of Musikaliska Sällskapet's Chamber Choir, Bel Canto Choir, and Östgöta Chamber Choir, with actress Stina von Sydow as narrator.
