About

Cockney Rejects are a punk rock band from Custom House, East London, formed in 1978 by brothers Jeff 'Stinky' Turner and Micky Geggus. Their 1980 track 'Oi! Oi! Oi!' gave the Oi! subgenre its name, and the band's raw, working-class sound - built around football terraces, street life and sing-along choruses - made them one of the most influential acts in British punk. Signed to EMI after just four gigs, they charted several singles in 1980 and were eventually banned from Top of the Pops for their behaviour on set. Bands including Rancid and Green Day have cited them as a key influence.
