GAEREA is a Portuguese extreme metal band from Porto, formed in 2016, who perform entirely anonymously behind masks - no member has ever been publicly identified. Starting out as a black metal act, they have steadily expanded their sound toward post-metal and atmospheric territory across four studio albums, signing to Season of Mist and later Century Media. Their 2021 album Limbo brought them wider recognition in the extreme metal underground, and the 2024 follow-up Coma crossed over 1 million Spotify streams within 24 hours of release.
GAEREA released their fifth album Loss on March 20, 2026, their first record on Century Media.
GAEREA announced their debut Australian tour in July 2026, supporting the Loss album.
GAEREA announced two exclusive headline shows in Porto and Lisbon in December 2025.
Fourth album Coma was released on October 25, 2024 via Season of Mist and surpassed 1 million Spotify streams within 24 hours.
GAEREA announced a 2025 European headline tour spanning Germany, Denmark, Norway and Sweden in support of Coma.
