American folk band from New York with an electric six-piece sound. Milkweed blends bluegrass, blues, and Irish influences into their own musical storytelling.
Milkweed is an Americana band from Binghamton, New York, built around the trio of Joseph Alston, Jacqueline Colombo and Peter Lister. Their sound pulls from bluegrass flat-picking, Chicago blues harmonica and Irish ballads, with three-part vocal harmony at its core. The band expanded into a six-piece electric lineup in 2016, adding keys, drums and electric guitar. Their debut full-length, Dream of An American Family (2015), earned radio play and festival bookings across the US Northeast and East Coast.
Milkweed released the ELECTRIC - EP in January 2018, their first recording as a six-piece band, produced by Two Birds Records at Hart Studios.
The six-piece electric version of Milkweed came together for the first time on Halloween 2016 for the Scareousel Ball in Johnson City, NY.
