English pop musician Nik Kershaw from the 1980s performs live at Big Stage in Göteborg.
Nik Kershaw (born 1 March 1958 in Bristol, England) is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who broke through in 1984 with the debut album Human Racing and a run of synth-pop hits including 'Wouldn't It Be Good' and 'The Riddle'. His 62 weeks on the UK Singles Chart in 1984-85 outpaced every other solo artist of that period, and he performed at Live Aid in 1985. Beyond his own recordings, he has written for a wide range of artists - most notably Chesney Hawkes's 1991 UK number one 'The One and Only' - and continues to tour and release music, with his ninth studio album Oxymoron appearing in 2020.
Kershaw announced a memoir titled 'Musings and Lyrics: Inane Ramblings of a Grateful Idiot', with pre-orders opening in February 2025.
The career box set 'The MCA Years', covering his 1980s recordings for MCA with remastered albums, B-sides and unreleased live material, was released on 21 February 2025 via Cherry Red.
Kershaw's debut album Human Racing and its follow-up The Riddle both marked their 40th anniversaries in 2024.
Kershaw co-headlined a national Australian tour with Go West in March 2024.
Kershaw appeared on the 'Vi Elsker 80'erne' festival bill at Forum Kobenhavn in Copenhagen in March 2026, alongside Kim Wilde.
