About

The Deep Dark Woods are a Canadian folk-roots band formed in 2005 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, now based in Southern Ontario. Fronted by singer-songwriter Ryan Boldt, they draw on Celtic folk, country blues and 1960s folk-rock - think Fairport Convention, The Band and Neil Young - to build a sound that feels both timeless and distinctly their own. Over eight albums they have earned Juno nominations, two Canadian Folk Music Awards and two Western Canadian Music Awards, and played stages from Newport Folk Festival to Bonnaroo. Their 2025 album The Circle Remains, recorded to analog tape with producer David Parry, is widely regarded as among their finest work.
