Walter Smith III is an American jazz saxophonist and composer who has worked with Roy Haynes's Fountain of Youth Band and the Terence Blanchard Quintet. His playing bridges hard bop tradition and contemporary jazz, a quality Jimmy Heath once described by quoting Dizzy Gillespie: one foot in the past, one in the future.
