The Gothenburg Sound
Göteborgs Konserthus, Gothenburg
Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra takes on the melodic death metal that put Gothenburg on the rock map. Riffs transform into string passages and percussion in songs from At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity and In Flames - without amplified guitars or growl vocals, but with full brass, strings and percussion that reveal new dimensions in the music.
The concerts are conducted by Josef Rhedin, featuring specially written arrangements by Johan Lindström and composer John Metcalfe. Metcalfe is known for his work with U2, Coldplay and Peter Gabriel.
The concert is also a tribute to Tomas "Tompa" Lindberg's memory. As the frontman of At The Gates, Lindberg was one of the most significant figures behind the Gothenburg sound.
"Hearing our music, together with songs by Dark Tranquillity and In Flames, translated for full orchestra is something we could never have imagined when all this began." - At the Gates
