Chief conductor Martyn Brabbins opens the season with the newly commissioned "Verse of Light", composed by MSO's Composer in Association Karen Tanaka for guest artist Håkan Hardenberger.

The evening's second work is Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5, written during the Second World War - a tribute to the power of the human spirit, infused with vital playfulness and ethereal melodies.
