Apocalypse Orchestra is a five-piece metal band from Gävle, Sweden, formed in 2013. They fuse medieval folk instruments - hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, mandola - with doom metal guitars and drums, drawing lyrical themes from plague, war and medieval European history. Their debut album 'The End Is Nigh' (2017) earned critical acclaim, and their long-awaited second record 'A Plague Upon Thee' followed in February 2025 via Despotz Records. Live, the band is known for theatrical staging that can include fire, dancers and projected animation.
