Arch Enemy is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Halmstad, founded in 1995 by guitarist Michael Amott (ex-Carcass) alongside Johan Liiva. Over twelve studio albums they built a global following on the strength of Amott's twin-guitar attack and a succession of powerful vocalists - Angela Gossow (2000-2014), then Alissa White-Gluz (2014-2025), and from February 2026 Lauren Hart (ex-Once Human). Their 2001 breakthrough Wages of Sin remains a genre landmark.
