About

In Flames is a heavy metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden, founded in 1990. Their mid-1990s albums - The Jester Race, Whoracle and Colony - helped define the so-called Gothenburg sound and made melodic death metal a globally recognised genre. Vocalist Anders Fridén and guitarist Björn Gelotte have anchored the lineup since 1995, steering the band through 14 studio albums and well over two million records sold worldwide. Seven Swedish Grammis wins, including a 2024 award for Foregone, reflect their sustained standing in Scandinavian rock.
