In Flames is a heavy metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden, founded in 1990. Their mid-1990s albums - The Jester Race, Whoracle and Colony - helped define the so-called Gothenburg sound and made melodic death metal a globally recognised genre. Vocalist Anders Fridén and guitarist Björn Gelotte have anchored the lineup since 1995, steering the band through 14 studio albums and well over two million records sold worldwide. Seven Swedish Grammis wins, including a 2024 award for Foregone, reflect their sustained standing in Scandinavian rock.
In Flames completed recording their 15th studio album in Los Angeles with producer Howard Benson; a release date has not yet been announced.
In Flames announced a 29-date European summer tour for 2026, running from mid-July to late August across more than twenty cities and major festivals.
In Flames parted ways with drummer Tanner Wayne after seven years, describing the split as a creative decision.
Jon Rice was recruited as touring drummer for the spring/summer 2025 European tour, stepping in after Tanner Wayne's departure.
Foregone won the Swedish Grammis for Hard Rock/Metal Album of the Year in 2024, the band's seventh Grammis win overall.
