American rock legends Flamin' Groovies and British Guitar Gangsters take the stage in Malmö.
Flamin' Groovies are an American rock band from San Francisco, formed in 1965 by guitarist Cyril Jordan and vocalist Roy Loney. While their Bay Area contemporaries chased psychedelia, the Groovies stubbornly stuck to Chuck Berry riffs and British Invasion hooks - a stance that earned them cult status rather than chart glory, and later recognition as forerunners of both punk and power pop. Their 1976 album Shake Some Action, produced by Dave Edmunds, is now regarded as a landmark of the era, and the band has been active again since a 2013 reunion.
A 50th anniversary deluxe edition of Shake Some Action was released on Rhino Records, remastered from the original analog tapes and including a bonus disc of previously unreleased outtakes and a 1976 live recording from The Roxy in Hollywood.
Flamin' Groovies announced a UK tour for September 2026 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Shake Some Action, with dates in Bristol, Leeds, Edinburgh, Nottingham and London.
The band's 2026 anniversary tour also includes a US leg running from October through November, with stops in Boston, New York, Washington, Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Los Angeles.
Magnet Magazine noted the 50th anniversary of the original release of Shake Some Action on June 1, 2026.
The band reunited in 2013 for an Australian tour at the invitation of the Hoodoo Gurus, and has since toured the US, Europe and Japan multiple times.
