About

Flamin' Groovies are an American rock band from San Francisco, formed in 1965 by guitarist Cyril Jordan and vocalist Roy Loney. While their Bay Area contemporaries chased psychedelia, the Groovies stubbornly stuck to Chuck Berry riffs and British Invasion hooks - a stance that earned them cult status rather than chart glory, and later recognition as forerunners of both punk and power pop. Their 1976 album Shake Some Action, produced by Dave Edmunds, is now regarded as a landmark of the era, and the band has been active again since a 2013 reunion.
