Gorillaz is a British virtual band created by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett in the late 1990s, presented as four animated characters - 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs. Their music blends pop, rock, hip-hop and electronica with an ever-changing roster of collaborators, and the 2001 debut album launched them to global fame. Guinness World Records recognises them as the most successful virtual band of all time, with over 13 billion Spotify streams and nine studio albums to their name.
