The xx are a London indie trio - Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith (Jamie xx) - who formed in 2005 while still at school in Wandsworth. Their 2009 debut album xx, built on hushed guitars, sparse beats and interlocking vocals, won the Mercury Prize and made them one of the defining acts of late-2000s alternative pop. Three studio albums followed, the most recent being I See You (2017), before the members each pursued solo careers; they reunited for live shows in 2026 and are working on a fourth album.
The xx are scheduled to perform at Fuji Rock Festival in Japan on July 24, 2026, continuing their first live run since 2018.
