Göteborgsoperan is the main opera and music theatre house in western Sweden, situated on the Göta älv waterfront in central Gothenburg. It stages its own productions of opera, musical theatre and ballet, supported by a permanent ensemble and orchestra. Since opening in 1994 it has grown into one of Scandinavia's most active opera venues.
