About
Los Pirañas is an instrumental trio from Bogotá, Colombia, formed by guitarist Eblis Álvarez (Meridian Brothers), bassist Mario Galeano (Frente Cumbiero, Ondatropica) and drummer Pedro Ojeda (Romperayo). The three met as students at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and have been active together since their debut album in 2011-12. Their music pulls cumbia, champeta, vallenato and chicha into collision with avant-psych rock, dub and improvised noise - all recorded live in the studio without overdubs.
