Roxette
Swedish pop duo Roxette takes the stage at Slottsskogsvallen.
Roxette is a Swedish pop-rock duo founded in Halmstad in 1986 by Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson. Four of their singles topped the US Billboard Hot 100 - 'The Look', 'Listen to Your Heart', 'It Must Have Been Love' and 'Joyride' - and the band has sold between 75 and 80 million records worldwide, making them Sweden's best-selling act after ABBA. Fredriksson died in December 2019 after a long illness; since 2025, Gessle has continued touring under the Roxette name with Swedish singer Lena Philipsson on lead vocals.
Roxette announced a 14-city North American fall 2026 leg of the 40th Anniversary Tour, kicking off September 10 in Clarkston, Michigan.
'It Must Have Been Love' surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, making Roxette - alongside ABBA - the only Swedish act with a pre-2000 song in Spotify's Billions Club.
Roxette's Spotify monthly listener count grew from 10.5 million at the start of 2024 to 16.8 million, and the act broke into the platform's global top 500 for the first time.
The 2025 world tour launched with a sold-out show in Cape Town, South Africa - the same venue where Roxette played their last concert with Marie Fredriksson in 2016.
A 3-CD remix box set titled ROX RMX (Remixes from the Roxette Vaults) was released, and the musical Joyride the Musical opened at Malmö Opera, running until April 2025.
