Bowie by Sukita
The exhibition features photographs from the Ziggy Stardust era, the iconic Heroes album cover, 40 years of press photography, Bowie's travels in Japan, Tin Machine and more. Two music videos are also included - Blackstar and Lazarus, both directed by Johan Renck.
David Bowie and photographer Masayoshi Sukita first met in London in 1972, when Sukita had come to take part in the thriving music and art scene of the time. Sukita became an important figure in Bowie's exploration of Japanese culture, and their friendship and creative collaboration lasted over 40 years. Many of Sukita's photographs have become iconic - not least the Heroes album cover and the Watch That Man series featuring Bowie as Space Samurai.
At the opening on 11 April at 15.00, Ebbot Lundberg and Gunnar Frick will perform interpretations of Bowie.
Closed days: Mondays, and also 1 May, 6 June and 19-20 June.
Bowie evening: In connection with the exhibition, Gbg Art arranges a Bowie evening on Wednesday 27 May from 18.00 to 20.00. More info: goteborg.com/bowiekvall
