Defacing God is a melodic death/black metal band from Aalborg, Denmark, founded in 2015 by vocalist Sandie "The Lilith" Gjørtz and drummer Michael Olsson. The band weaves symphonic orchestration and occult themes - centred on the mythological figure of Lilith - into a sound that draws on early Scandinavian death metal, black metal and cinematic scoring. Their 2022 debut The Resurrection of Lilith on Napalm Records established them in the European extreme metal scene, and their 2026 sophomore album Darkness Is My Crown, released via Apostasy Records, marks a more personal and intense chapter in their catalogue.
Defacing God released their second album Darkness Is My Crown on 27 March 2026 via Apostasy Records, mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studios.
On 22 January 2026 the band announced they had signed with Apostasy Records ahead of the new album release.
Vocalist Sandie Gjørtz and lead guitarist Jacob Batten married on 27 September 2025.
Lead guitarist Signar Petersen left the band in early 2024, citing personal priorities; Jacob Batten of Illdisposed joined as his replacement.
